King Mohammed VI and President of the Republic of Zambia, Edgar Chagwa Lungu, chaired the signing ceremony of 19 governmental and economic partnership agreements between the two countries, on Monday at the presidential palace in Lusaka.
In line with the royal initiative to reinforce south-south partnership, the agreements cover the fields of political consultations, air services, investment protection, finance, insurance, education, training, tourism, agriculture, technology, industry, mining and renewable energy.
The following is a list of the Agreements signed, broken down into three main areas:
Governance
A general economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation agreement
A memorandum of understanding on the establishment of a mechanism for political consultations
A memorandum of understanding between the Zambian development agency and Casablanca Finance City Authority (CFCA).
A memorandum of understanding for the setting up of a business council.
A cooperation agreement in the fields of education, training and apprenticeship.
An agreement on investment promotion and reciprocal protection.
A memorandum of understanding on industrial cooperation.
A memorandum of understanding on the agricultural sector.
Finance
A memorandum of understanding between Morocco’s Groupe du Crédit Agricole and Zambia’s development bank.
A memorandum of understanding between Attijariwafa Bank and Zambia National Commercial Bank.
A memorandum of understanding between Morocco’s Banque Centrale Populaire and Zambia National Commercial Bank.
Insurance
A technical cooperation agreement between the Moroccan federation of insurance and re-insurance companies and Zambia’s insurers association.
A cooperation agreement for the development of harvest insurance in Zambia between Morocco’s Mutuelle Agricole Marocaine d’Assurances (MAMDA) and Zambia State Insurance Corporation.
A memorandum of understanding between the MAMDA-Re and the Zambian limited liability company.
Industrial
An agreement on air services.
A memorandum of understanding between the Zambian mining ministry and Morocco’s office for hydrocarbons and mining (ONHYM).
A cooperation agreement in the field of the development of renewable energy projects.
A memorandum of understanding in the field of tourism between the Moroccan Tourism Office (ONMT) and Zambia Tourism Agency.
A memorandum of understanding between the Zambian development agency and Morocco’s Tangiers Med special agency (TMSA).
Ghana’s President Commends Exemplary Leadership of HM the King (Joint Statement)

Accra – Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has commended Moroccan Sovreign King Mohammed VI for His “exemplary leadership which had gained recognition on the African continent”.
In the joint statement issued following the Sovereign’s official visit to the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency the President hailed the contribution of Morocco to the development and stability of the West African region and called for consolidation of the relations between Morocco and the Economic Community of the West African States (ECOWAS).
President Akufo-Addo also expressed the interest of Ghana for the creation of the North-West African forum which aims at strengthening consultation between its member States over major issues of common interest in the political, economic, social areas with a view of implementing common global strategies to achieve human and sustainable development of the region.
The Ghanaian president commended HM the King for the elections held in Morocco on 7th October 2016, which “bore ample testimony to the success of the constitutional reforms introduced by His Majesty the King in 2011”.
